San Francisco Fashion Week '05: Oda
Oda’s Bay Area design trio—Angie Kim, Mandalyn Begay and Maggie Kim—make wearable art with all-natural fabrics for men, women and children. Called “Bedouin Princesses,” Oda’s Spring 2006 collection was inspired by fabled heroines and mythical tales, according to Kim. The designers fused Edwardian style with Tokyo-pop sensibilities, applying their formula to shirts and skirts. A hand-dyed blue cotton voile kimono shirt and gray pants with light-blue piping, a hand-dyed hemp bubble skirt and fitted knit cap-sleeve shirt, and a pin-tucked shirt dress made with tea-dyed cotton voile were just a few of the designers’ updated casual looks.
