Lingerie Meets Lifestyle

Booty Parlor’s sexy lingerie is teaching naughty tricks to nice girls. In addition to lingerie, the lifestyle company Booty Parlor sells mischievous bedroom accessories and body treats such as kissable shimmer powder and massage oil. The husband-and-wife owners, Charlie and Dana Myers, launched the company in June and plan to open a store in the next year in addition to selling the products at in-home parties, through the online store and wholesale to retailers.

“We saw a need in the marketplace for a sexy lifestyle company for women that didn’t involve any porn,” said Dana. The bedroom toys and lingerie are packaged in powder-pink boxes fit for a contemporary boutique.

Booty Parlor’s flirty lingerie is meant to bring out the wild side in a customer. “I wanted to create a line that felt like it was slightly costume-y. Like you were getting dressed up and it had a theme, but it wasn’t like putting on a Catholic schoolgirl costume,” said Dana.

Key styles include the nylon-spandex mesh “Naughty Ballerina” set with frilly lace trim around the hips and a silk-Lycra “Foxy Bombshell” set with silk ribbon that unties in the front and back for a teasing reveal. Retail price points are $36–$48 for panties and from $44 for a bralette to $89 for a baby-doll camisole. All of the styles are available in a black-andpink color combination.

Acrobat Bra Goes Wireless

Most women tolerate the discomfort of an underwire bra for the flattering look. But for women who have had breast augmentation, an underwire bra is not only uncomfortable but could be harmful, according to Lisa Morrison, designer and co-founder of the Irvine, Calif.–based Acrobat Bra.

Morrison developed the “Look No Wire” bra, an underwire-free bra specially designed for women who have had breast augmentation.

“Patients are not supposed to wear underwire after surgery,” said Morrison. “It stops blood flow and scar tissue can build up.” The designer worked with multiple patients to test the bra’s fit and collaborated with Dr. Peter Helton, a dermatologist, to ensure that the fabrics and shape would meet his standards as a medical professional.

Styles range from sexy scalloped lace in fashion colors, nylon-Lycra mesh with novelty prints and classic shapes in polyester microfiber.

Although “Look No Wire” has been sold through the company’s Web site for two years, Morrison only recently started selling the lingerie wholesale to retailers. Wholesale prices are $35–$40.

The newest offering from the company is the rayon-Lycra “Double Agent” underwire-free bra with nylon mesh trim. The “Double Agent” bra uses the same design technology, replacing the underwire with elastic, but the shape is designed for women who have not had breast augmentation.

A vibrant burst of color was added to the 10th floor of the California Market Center in August with the opening of the Beija Brazil lingerie showroom in suite B1079. The contemporary lingerie label opened the corporate showroom to create a foundation for national sales and to take advantage of buyer traffic on the 10th floor.

Designer of Beija Brazil, Guy Blews, said the corporate showroom gives him full artistic freedom without having to keep in mind the styles of other lines in a shared space.

Since the showroom’s opening, the label has seen an increase in sales and positive response from buyers. For more information, call (213) 622-1079. —R.C.
