Call for Submissions for Fashion Showdown Contest

The collaborative clothing line and Web community Citizen Fashion will hold a fashion showdown contest in conjunction with men’s clothing line Mobius Lounge, arts publication ISM Quarterly and the Orange County Museum of Art’s after-hours music series, Orange Crush. The contest calls for budding fashion designers to create one redcarpet couture ensemble for a chance to win the grand prize of $500 cash and have his or her line of clothing (up to eight pieces) designed and first samples made (an estimated $6,000 value). The deadline for submissions is Dec. 31.

The FORM/Fashion Showdown competition and Citizen Fashion were founded by Mobius Lounge to support local design talent and help young designers through the production process of the business. For the Citizen Fashion label, young designers can submit original designs to be posted on the Web site. Through online voting, designs are chosen to go into production. Citizen Fashion founders Tom and Helen Lo use the resources from their apparel manufacturing company, C & A Apparel Service, to produce the garments.

The FORM competition takes on the same democratic theme. Starting Jan. 1, 2007, online voting will be conducted to choose the top contenders, who will be shown on the runway in the FORM competition.
