Tresics: Trendy Basics

Tresics knows that sometimes the best path is the simple and straightforward route. From basic designs to streamlined production, the company is efficient all the way to the name of the line, Tresics, which is a hybrid of the words trendy and basics.

The juniors company launched at the MAGIC Marketplace in August with basic knit T-shirts and trendy variations on the knit T-shirt.

Tresics’ 7-year-old parent company specializes in apparel import and product development. With the exception of the yarns, which are purchased and shipped to the production facility, Tresics controls all production with one company in Central America—from the knitting, dying, cutting and sewing to wash treatments—allowing Tresics to offer a higher-quality garments at a lower cost.

“When it comes to basics, you’re not selling the name,” said Sam Paik, marketing and sales director for Tresics. “You’re selling the color, the fabric, the fit.”

What Tresics does best are T-shirts with differentiating details, such as a cotton jersey scoop-neck T-shirt with a twisted neckband and pinches of shirring. Current colors of mustard and charcoal complement the impulse-buy fashion items that are on target with the key trends. Some of the bestsellers are a cotton jersey dress with a ribbed empire waist and long tunic tops with slouchy pocket treatments. For the latest styles, a bio-enzyme wash treatment gives a lint-free sheen and flowing drape to the cotton tops.

The very basic items, such as ribbed cotton tanks and cotton/spandex crew-neck long-sleeved tees, are refreshed every season with new colors and cater toward the blanks business.

Paik said the philosophy behind the design team is to “create updated styles with attention to detail and fit for the juniors market.” The company is already looking forward to bringing more contemporary luxury to the juniors category and is in the process of developing cotton/Modal for a juniors price point.

Wholesale price points range from $3 for a knit top to $7.50 for a dress.
