OptiTex Finds Growth in China

While Asian manufacturers continue to gain the lion’s share of production, non-Asian companies are supplying most of the technology being used.

New York–based CAD software developer OptiTex Ltd. recently sold 45 CAD workstations to the Suzhou Art & Design Technology Institute in China. The deal augments the company’s stake in China, where it has placed its product with about 15 schools. China is now the second-largest market for OptiTex.

“Rising global demand for software products in the textile industry has boosted sales growth by 30 percent this year,” said Chief Executive Officer Ran Machtinger. The company has grown by a compounded rate of 15 percent per year since 2002.
