Antique Showroom

One of the newest accessories showrooms in the California Market Center is stocked with collections created entirely by San Diego designers.

Monique VanDyke and Annmarie D’Ercole, two San Diego residents, decided it was time to have their own showroom in Los Angeles and opened their new place at the CMC, which carries two other accessories lines whose roots are in San Diego.

VanDyke knew the CMC well. For three years, her Thinque Pinque line of embellished one-of-a-kind T-shirts, bathrobes, sweats, underwear, childrenswear and dogwear was represented by another showroom down the hall on the 10th floor.

But VanDyke, a former scuba-diving instructor and flight attendant, wanted her own showroom. And D’Ercole, who designs an eponymous jewelry line sold at her Del Mar, Calif., store, was thinking of branching out after her contemporary jewelry line was named the best in San Diego last year in San Diego Magazine.

So the two put their heads and wallets together to open a small showroom that takes its moniker from their first two names.

In addition to their lines, VanDyke and D’Ercole carry two lines created by San Diego women. They are Lucia Bella, maker of handbags and belts, and Bellatony, a collection of leather cuffs decorated with shells, stones and beads.

The showroom’s deacute;cor is shabby chic with the feel of a comfortable boutique. “There will be a little bit of San Diego, with some beachy atmosphere, to make it warm and inviting,” VanDyke said. —Deborah Belgum
