Junk Yard Showroom

Gerry Building, Suite 903(213) 489-4686Amanda@junkyardshowroom.com

The Gerry Building is adding more contemporary lines to balance its mix of corporate showrooms, lingerie and menswear as it nears lease-up. The latest to come aboard is the Junk Yard showroom, which opened on June 8.

The showroom features West Coast contemporary resources for tops, dresses and sportswear, as well as eclectic jewelry and fashionable handbags. Owner Amanda Ezra designed the showroom to appeal to boutique and specialty stores.

“I didn’t want it to be just about tops or jewelry,” she said. “I designed it so buyers can come in here and say this is how I want my store to look.”

Lines include Lure, designed by former stylist Jamie Lauren, which features jersey knits, fleece and prints. Highlights include “Florida housewife” jump suits, kimono dresses, and dresses featuring totem and deer prints. Many of the pieces are embellished with jewelry. According to Ezra, Hilary Duff and Jessica Simpson are fans. Wholesale prices range from $40 to $80.

Hansni, another local line started by childhood friends Hansni Kamdar and Rebecca Peralta, features silk satins and chiffon tops and dresses that are wholesale priced from $40. Many of the pieces are hand-embellished.

Nektar is a new line featuring luxury cotton tees with embellished prints, wholesale priced from $23 to $35. New items include all-cotton tie-dyed Henleys with rose-tattoo prints. Also new is Durti clothing by Frank Berenguer, which features enzyme-treated shirts and conceptual graphics with a SoCal edge and early-rock inspiration. Wholesale prices range from $20 to $60.

The accessories collections include the Jami Rodriguez collection of eclectic earrings, necklaces and pendants with animal, Native American and various other themes, and Heather Hawkins bags and clutches. New styles include patent-leather clutches in black and bubblegum colors.

Ezra is a native Californian who has immersed herself in California style.

“I have a good pulse on design,” she said. “I want buyers to come here and pick up some cool designs to make their stores stand out and give their customers items they are going to love.” —Robert McAllister
