Michael Stars Adds Cashmere

After years of making highend T-shirts for women, Los Angeles–based Michael Stars has added cashmere to its repertoire. The new line of tissue-weight, 16-gauge cashmere T-shirts debuts with 10 silhouettes.

“Living on the West Coast and traveling to New York, I found that stores were offering only 12-gauge cashmere, too heavy to wear inside or put under a blazer or jacket,” said Michael Cohen, the company’s founder and chairman. Fit to be layered and worn year-round, the new Michael Stars cashmere line includes kimono, boyfriend sweater and grandpa cardigan shapes. Colors range from classic neutrals, like black, camel and grey, to richer jewel tones.

Set to hit stores in August, the Fall collection will retail for $198–$265. The line will be sold online at michaelstars.com, at Michael Stars retail stores, as well as at Nordstrom and specialty boutiques. —Erin Barajas
