Los Angeles Fashion Week Fall '06: Iron

Los Angeles-based Iron’s signature is composed of flowing, bodyconscious garments that are printed with the art created by company founder and president Leejay Mintz.

(Mintz is also president of Los Angeles-based label Sheri Bodell, which did not show in Los Angeles this season.)

For the Fall ’06 collection, Mintz took his signature styles and embellished them with leather, metal grommets and beads. The 39-look collection debuted March 22 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios.

The result ranged from casual styles, such as the metal beaded cami top matched with copper panty bottoms, to more dramatic ensembles, such as the black jersey dress bearing a suede basketweave fringe trim.

For this collection, Mintz said he was inspired by nature—specifically the ocean and land—so the colors for the collection took on a darker cast, with emphasis on blacks, blues and, naturally, earth tones. —Andrew Asch
