CFA's Poker Tournament Returns

The California Fashion Association will hold its second annual “Hold Em” charity poker tournament Jan. 26 at the Cooper Design Space in downtown Los Angeles.

The CFA hosted the first tournament last year at the Hollywood Park Casino in Inglewood, Calif., where attendees helped raise nearly $95,000 for the California Fashion Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the CFA.

About 200 guests, including CFA members and other industry executives, attended the inaugural event at the race track and casino, owned by Leo Chu, former owner of the Ivy of California apparel line.

This year’s event will feature the tournament, a buffet dinner, a no-host bar and raffle prizes, all in the Cooper Design Space’s 11th-floor penthouse, which boasts panoramic views of downtown Los Angeles.

Guests will also receive the new California Fashion Card Deck, a custom-designed deck of cards featuring 54 California apparel industry brands.

Event sponsors include the California Market Center, The New Mart, CIT Commercial Services, Cohn Handler LLP, the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, FedEx, Grobstein, Horwath & Co. LLP, Moss Adams LLP, GMAC Financial, Kaufman & Kabani LLP, Kreiger Worldwide, Manufacturer’s Bank, Security Textile Corp., Security Sourcing International, Stonefield Josephson Inc., Union Bank of California and the California Apparel News.

Tickets for the event are $100 for admission and $200 for tournament entry with advance reservation. Tournament entry tickets will be available at the door for $250.

The CFF is a nonprofit organization founded in 1996 to support the apparel and textile community. The group’s philanthropic activities include financial scholarships; funding after-school programs in the arts and music; and providing clothing, through fundraising or donations, to organizations including Operation School Bell, which gives clothing and personal grooming products to school children in extreme need.
