Gsus Sindustries, the irreverent streetwear line from Amsterdam, has relaunched its brand on the West Coast with a new showroom at the Gerry Building.

Former Miss Sixty and Betsey Johnson sales executive Lisa Fabian is Gsus’ new rep in Los Angeles and is running the company’s showroom, which features men’s and women’s sportswear and denim.

Gsus was founded by three artists about 14 years ago and was launched in the United States about five years ago. Its presence on the West Coast has been sporadic. The company was previously represented by a sales rep at The New Mart until one year ago. These days, the brand is making a bigger U.S. commitment with the new showroom and a soon-to-come retail launch in New York and Los Angeles.

Buyers can contact Fabian to view the more than 250 styles the company produces each season. The line features T-shirts, techedup jackets, skirts and feminine tops.

Fabian said Gsus crosses over from the streetwear category to young contemporary. Despite its name (the line’s name is pronounced like “Jesus”), the clothing line is nonsectarian and appeals to all creeds, religions and sexes.

“It’s got a European flair, but it’s different than a lot of what’s in the market right now,” Fabian said. “The designers don’t really follow trends. They do their own thing. They always seem to inject some type of humor in the line, too.”

Each season, the designs fall under various themes. For Spring, it’s fairy tales and science, so Gsus is featuring items such as glow-in-the-dark “mad scientist” jackets and feminine printed tops. Other pieces include wax-cotton water-resistant jackets and sweaters with removable capes.

Wholesale prices range from $25 to $185. T-shirts account for the lower end of the scale, and denim sells for $85–$150. The line is currently sold to specialty chains such as Urban Outfitters. —Robert McAllister
