L.A. Fashion Week Spring '07: Kelly Nishimoto

Designer Kelly Nishimoto showed a diverse line of pretty dresses in a variety of shapes, cute rompers and easy-as-pie silk pants at her Oct. 19 show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City, Calif. A trail of boudoir-themed pieces, including pajama-style pants in silk and chiffon fabrications, barely-there camisole tops and whispy maxi-length dresses, tied the eclectic collection together.

A collection of Grecian jersey dresses got a dose of romance with satin straps and sashes, delicate ruching and plunging necklines. Jumpers were shown in printed chiffon and paneled silk. A midnight-blue romper felt like a vintage Parisian find with bright-red bows cinching each leg. Nishimoto showed her version of sexy secretary with a high-waisted pencil skirt, matching corset and blouse. Other separates included shrunken blazers, skinny satin knickers and a banded-bottom bubble skirt. —Erin Barajas
