San Francisco Fashion Week '06: Besnik
Drama and skimpy looks are what Albania-born Besnik is all about. The 30-year-old designer, who has lived in this country for 19 years, formed metallic fabrics into baby-doll dresses tied up with a big bow, wrap-around evening gowns and bias-cut skirts. Carrying on with the glitzy look, his flamenco-style dress with its red satin skirt and black lace top had a flair that said oleacute;. Many designs had ruched elements that helped the fabric hug the body tightly. Popular were lettuce-leaf hems or diagonal hems shorter on one side than the other. No wonder Besnik is a favorite with models, artists and hairstylists looking for fashion that can’t be found in any ordinary boutique.
