San Francisco Fashion Week '06: Tamiece
Sheena Borja and her sister Pam are young designers who started their line Tamiece last year to create clothing for what they feel is the forgotten woman, those under 5-foot-4.
“We are a petite line for the smaller frame,” said Sheena Borja, who studied apparel design and merchandising at San Francisco State University. “We create silhouettes that make the petite woman comfortable—nothing that hugs the body. We create volume and texture with our pieces.”
In their Spring collection, which is a bridge between juniorwear and misses attire, they used heavy doses of charmeuse and silk jersey that were molded into halter tops, halter dresses, pencil skirts, sleeveless blouses and cowl-neck tunics. Silhouettes included plunging necklines, bubble skirts and tops with gathers.
With colors ranging from deep emerald to amber and gold, their looks went from day to night in street casual to sophisticated styles.
