San Francisco Fashion Week 2006: Emerging Stars

Fifteen fashion students from The Art Institute of California–San Francisco, the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in San Francisco, the California College of the Arts in San Francisco and San Francisco State University made a statement when presenting three fashions each that gave a glimpse of their design potential.

Looks included dresses with cropped capes paired with hoodies—giving a Little Red Riding Hood look to the collection—to more urban looks with tinges of black leather. Menswear collections had a decidedly urban feel to them. Particularly popular were sleeveless men’s tops with hoodies.

Former supermodel Janice Dickinson flew in from New York to present the Emerging Designer award, which went to Emily Yao, originally a math major from Los Angeles, who is now studying at The Art Institute of California–San Francisco.

Other students displaying their fashions were Ray Gin, Jeremy Parr, Jenine Hillaire, Amber Clisura, Vincent Avila, Antonia Marguerite, Young K. Park, Hannah Gallagher, twins David and Daniel Concepcion, Candis Lee Cleveland, Lauren V. Craig, Elizabeth Buenrostro, Sasha Igdari and Rocio Penuelas.
