Reiss, True Religion to Put Down Stakes on Robertson

Robertson Boulevard in Los Angeles will welcome another British designer.

U.K.-based David Reiss recently took over the lease of the Reebok store at 145 N. Robertson Blvd., said Chuck Dembo, the real estate broker who handled the deal.

The 12,000-square-foot Reebok store closed on Aug. 15, and the Reiss boutique may open there later this year, according to the company’s Web site, www.reiss.co.uk.

English label Ted Baker has sold savvy Brit fashions on Robertson Boulevard since 2005.

Reiss has maintained a New York City store since March 2005, and a Boston boutique opened in June. The British company expects to open several more boutiques by year’s end: in San Francisco, the Georgetown district of Washington, D.C., and two others in New York. The company eventually hopes to open more than 50 stores in the United States, according to its Web site.

In other Robertson Boulevard news, True Religion Apparel Inc. announced on Sept. 6 that it had signed a lease for retail space at an unspecified address on the fashionable street. The 1,226-square-foot store will offer the entire True Religion line.

Michael Buckley, president of the Los Angeles– based company, said that Robertson Boulevard’s obsession with premium denim should make his brand feel welcome.

“Our True Religion customer already shops here,” Buckley said, “so we are simply making our products even more accessible.”

True Religion has been running a boutique in Manhattan Beach, Calif., since December 2005. The company is scheduled to open a store in New York and one in Miami by year’s end. —Andrew Asch
