New York Fashion Week: Grey Ant

Los Angeles designer Grant Krajecki brought his Grey Ant collection to the New York Fashion Week runways with a Sept. 14 show at the Altman Building as part of a weeklong event sponsored by bicoastal fashion public relations agency People’s Revolution.

For his latest collection, Krajecki cited sources of inspiration ranging from classic horror-film heroines Jamie Lee Curtis in “Halloween” and Shelley Duvall in “The Shining” to the back cover of the Bette Midler album “Songs for a New Depression” and the soft-core “Emmanuelle” film series.

On the runway, the designer stayed true to his signature late ’70s/early ’80s look with high-waisted jeans and denim shorts worn with sexy bodysuits. Krajecki’s jeans featured top-stitching or sailorstyle buttons and his tops featured plunging keyhole necklines or skinny spaghetti straps and low-cut backs. —Alison A. Nieder
