New York–based Calvin Klein Inc., a division of Phillips-Van Heusen Corp., has inked an exclusive distribution deal and retail store agreement for India with Murjani India Ltd., the 76-year-old company that launched Gloria Vanderbilt and recently struck distribution agreements in India for Gucci, Jimmy Choo and French Connection. The Calvin Klein deal covers both the ck Calvin Klein bridge line of women’s and men’s apparel and accessories and the Calvin Klein Jeans and jeans accessories collections, which will be sold through free-standing retail stores and select department stores. In a separate agreement, New York–based Warnaco Group Inc. has struck an exclusive distribution and retail agreement with Murjani for Calvin Klein Underwear. Warnaco will be the exclusive supplier of Calvin Klein Jeans and jeans accessories. At least 40 free-standing ck Calvin Klein, Calvin Klein Jeans and Calvin Klein Underwear stores are planned within the first five years, beginning in spring 2007.
