Honeydew Intimates Does the Rumba for Breast Cancer Awareness

In commemoration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Los Angeles–based Honeydew Intimates is launching a limited edition style of their signature “Rumba” shorts to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The rumba shorts feature a pink ribbon print on the tiers of ruffles to serve as a reminder to promote medical research for breast cancer.

Benny Zafrani, owner and designer of Honeydew Intimates, said he came up with the idea after speaking with a friend who is an outreach and education coordinator for the Cancer Legal Resource Center, which is a joint program of the Disability Rights Legal Center and Loyola Law School.

“We wanted to give something back,” said Zafrani, and he suggested Honeydew’s signature rumba short as a platform to stir up funding for the charitable cause of breast cancer research. “We decided to make ours with the ribbons all over so that it really catches the attention of the buyer, thus generating more money to a good cause,” he said.

The shorts will retail for $16, with $9 from each pair sold donated to the foundation. They will be sold at select retailers across the country and online at www.honeydewintimates.com. —Rhea Cortado
