Shapely Shadow Releases SizeUSA Forms

Shapely Shadow Inc. of Malibu, Calif., has debuted a new line of dress forms that incorporate 3-D sizing data from TC2’s national sizing survey. It will be sold under the Fit by SizeUSA line and reflect sizing characteristics specific to the U.S. market.

Cary, N.C.–based TC2 recently toured the country with its white-light body scanners and took measurements of thousands of subjects to determine shapes and other data on size and fit. Surveys also were taken in Greece, the United Kingdom and Asia.

The organization has found that sizing in the U.S. market has distinct differences from other countries, as well as from earlier U.S. data as a result of evolving demographics and lifestyle changes.

“When TC2 sells their data,” said Shapely Shadow founder Ilona Foyer, “it’s usually flat data: 34-34-36, for example. We’ve taken the [digital] data and used them to produce these forms.”

The company recently sold several forms to Adidas for use in the Chinese market, Foyer said. For more information, visit www.shapelyshadow.com. —Robert McAllister
