Jam Warehouse's Jack Malkin, 77

Finishing-company owner Jack Malkin died on April 22. He was 77 years old.

Malkin founded Jam Warehouse Industries in Gardena, Calif., in 1989 to provide finishing services for apparel manufacturers. The company’s business took off as more and more apparel manufacturers moved production offshore, opening up a growing need for finishing services such as minor sewing repairs, tag corrections and ticketing.

A longtime philanthropist, Malkin’s charitable activities included California Apparel Industries Save-A-Life, Save the Children Foundation, American Diabetes Association and the Los Angeles Adopt-A-Class Association.

He is survived by his large extended family, including his wife, Andrea; daughters Sandra Tracey, Lynn Kronowit, Melissa Malkin and Souri Malkin; and four grandchildren.

The family requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations in Malkin’s name be made to ChildrensHospitalLosAngeles.
