CurvExpo Inc. Launches CurveNY Show

With only one completed CurveNV trade show in Las Vegas under its belt, CurvExpo Inc. announced the launch of a second trade show, CurveNY in New York.

CurveNY will be held Feb. 3–5 in the Penn Plaza Pavilion during New York Intimate Apparel Market Week and New York Fashion Week.

The new lingerie show, founded by Laurence and Jean-Luc Teinturier, launched in Las Vegas in February. CurvExpo Executive Vice President Laurence Teinturier said the idea for a New York arm came from the exhibitors of CurveNV’s first installment this past February. “Basically [the exhibitors] said, ’We know who you are, and we want you to come to New York,’” Teinturier said.

The next session of CurveNV, to be held Aug. 27–29, will feature more than 150 brands, including several from France, Italy and Canada.

CurvExpo will be held in partnership with Samantha Chang, designer and founder of the Boutique Lingerie trade show, held in Los Angeles and New York. Chang created the Boutique Lingerie show in New York in 2006 to provide a relaxed, affordable environment for her own high-end lingerie line and other like-minded brands. The Boutique Lingerie show has grown to more than 30 brands, including Myla, Fleur T England, Zovo and Araks. Its next installation will be held Aug. 5–7 at the Morgans Hotel in New York.

“Our vision of the business is very similar,” said Laurence Teinturier of the partnership with Chang. “We are not show organizers; we are business developers. Our mission is to bring customers to our customers.”

Chang plans to maintain a “special” atmosphere for the Boutique Lingerie show, which will be juried and held in a separate section within the CurveNY and CurveNV shows. The cost to exhibit will be higher than past Boutique Lingerie shows but less than the CurveNY show. “We’ll provide what a small brand needs to be in a big show,” said Chang. “It’s important for a big show like Curve to have a section that is extremely interesting and exciting. I think that Jean-Luc and Laurence [Teinturier] recognized that importance, and we all came to the conclusion of joining forces.”
