San Francisco Fashion Week '07: Dcepcion

Twins David and Daniel Concepcion haven’t been out of college for even a year, and already they are wowing crowds with their clean, sleek casual line for men and women.

Natural fabrics such as cotton and denim and a touch of linen dominated the Spring/Summer 2008 collection with its unusual touches here and there. “The womenswear is a little menswear-inspired with tailored looks and classic pieces. And the menswear is pretty clean,” said David, who graduated with his brother in December from San Francisco State University.

Coming down the runway were shirt dresses in various forms, such as a military white shirt dress and a tailored chambray shirt dress with a crisp navy blue–and–white striped belt.

The twins were fond of racer-back shirts or racer-back shirt dresses and vests over T-shirts for women.

Their menswear had plenty of straight-legged cotton pants and shirts with four pockets on the front, a signature look. The designers wanted to create a line that provided refined but fashion-forward ready-to-wear clothes for men and women that could be worn during the day and carry over to evening. —Deborah Belgum
