Badgley Mischka, Papillon Move to Sunset Plaza

The latest boutiques moving into the exclusive Los Angeles shopping district Sunset Plaza include an established couture line and a new Euro-luxury sportswear store.

After more than two decades of selling at the most exclusive luxury stores, venerable couture label BadgleyMischka opened its first free-standing boutique at 8667 Sunset Blvd. on Nov. 6. Adjacent to the Badgley Mischka store is Papillon Couture (8669 Sunset Blvd.), which held a grand-opening event on Dec. 6.

Papillon owner Eli Samaha retails several Italian lines at the store. Labels Papillon, Please, EXEX, Angel Devil and Imperial offer a genuine European look, Samaha said. Retail price points range from $125 to $1,000. The retailer forecast the Papillon Couture boutique will earn $5 million in its first year of business. He also said he hopes to open other Papillon Couture boutiques around Los Angeles, perhaps on high-profile Los Angeles shopping streets such as Robertson Boulevard and Beverly Drive and in the Century City neighborhood. —Andrew Asch
