Retail Ventures Inc., a Columbus, Ohio, retailer, said it has entered into talks with a third party for the acquisition of one of its chains, Value City Department Stores Inc. The talks are subject to certain conditions, including due diligence, and provides for a 25-day exclusivity period. The company said there is no guarantee the talks will end with a definite acquisition of the chain’s 113 stores, located mostly in the Midwest, mid-Atlantic and Southeast United States. Retail Ventures noted its other chains—250 DSW shoe stores and 36 Filene’s Basement stores—were not part of the talks.
