Opening Doors

Von Maur, the department store in the Westroads Mall in Omaha, Neb., where a gunman went on a rampage, planned to open its doors on Dec. 20. The store had been closed since the Dec. 5 shooting, during which Robert Hawkins killed eight people and wounded three before killing himself. The company planned a brief observance in memory of those affected by the shooting. “We know that nothing we do will ever erase the pain that was caused that day, yet we remain committed to doing everything we can to support and provide comfort to the victims, their families and all of our associates,” company President Jim von Maur said.
