Shirley of Hollywood CFO Jon Schlobohm Retires

After over 46 years working at National Corset, Chief Financial Officer Jon Schlobohm has passed the torch on to the third generation of Schlobohms, with the announcement of his retirement in December 2006.

Vernon, Calif.–based National Corset is the parent company of the Shirley of Hollywood brand. In 1960, Jon Schlobohm started working at the company his father, Herman, founded in 1948. Jon’s brother, Roy, joined the family business in 1961 and is currently still chief executive officer of National Corset.

In the early 1980s, Shirley of Hollywood was one of the first lingerie companies to print a photographic lingerie wholesale catalog. Until that time, lingerie catalogs were composed of line drawings, said Jon Schlobohm. Twentyfive years ago, the company began shifting its focus from primarily private label and majors business to specialty store business. Under Jon Schlobohm’s direction, the company contributed portions of Shirley of Hollywood’s proceeds to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Sylvan Learning Center and other children’s charities.

The third generation of Schlobohms continues the legacy, including Dana Schlobohm- Walczuk, director of design and marketing; Eric Schlobohm, international-sales director; Kirk Schlobohm, director of quality control and offshore production; Ron Schlobohm, director of domestic production; Dora Schlobohm, director of North American production; and Richard Kontogourias, who will assume the CFO responsibilities.

“It’s a blessing and challenge simultaneously,” said Jon Schlobohm of working with his family. Now that he has retired, Jon Schlobohm plans to take it easy. “I want to do some kind of service work and pursue some spiritual work with my wife.” —Rhea Cortado
