'Green' Is Focus of Global Eco

The debut Global ECO show, featuring sustainable fabrics and apparel in addition to other green products, will take place Feb. 12–15 in the Grand Ballroom at The Venetian hotel in Las Vegas.

The show is free to the trade. Exhibitors include Cape Fear Apparel, Toggery by Kate D’arcy, Jonano, Julia’s Designs, Ugly Fish Clothing, Naturepedic, Bgreen Apparel, Sense Organics, Ecobaby Organics, Silk City, Sharibe, Asha Imports, Friendly Cottons, Sckoon, Peoples Hemp, Eastern Warmth, Avatar, Bliss Clothing, Aaron Hirshberg Designs, Christian Rathbone, Clothing of the American Mind, Hemp Fortex and J.C.T. Fabrics.

“This show will help stores that want to go green,” said show producer Howard Gabe. “The green movement has been going on for some time, but it’s just starting to grow. Ever since Wal-Mart announced it was going to carry organic cotton, other stores have become more and more interested.”

Products to be shown include organic cotton, hemp, bamboo, recycled plastic and other ethically made and fairly traded products from around the globe, said Gabe, a former retailer who owned eco-friendly product stores in Venice and Santa Monica, Calif.

A limited amount of exhibitor space is still available. Prices start at $1,400. For more information, contact (626) 376-8664 or e-mail gabeh9@aol.com. —Robert McAllister
