L.A. Designers Among Finalists for CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund
Two Los Angeles designers are among the finalists for the fourth annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award, sponsored by the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
Scott Sternberg of Band of Outsiders and Koi Suwannagate of Koi are among the 10 finalists who will compete for a monetary award and an industry mentorship. Other nominees include Erin Fetherston; Phillip Lim of 3.1 Phillip Lim; Rogan’s Rogan Gregory; Philip Crangi of Philip Crangi Jewelry; Threeasfour designers Gabriel Asfour, Angela Donhauser and Adi Gil; Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai of Vena Cava; VPL’s Victoria Bartlett; and Michael Bastian.
The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner and two runners-up will be announced at the 7th on Sale gala on Nov. 15. The topplace winner will receive $200,000, and two runners-up will each receive $50,000. Past winners include Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler; Trovata’s original design team of John Whitledge, Sam Shipley, Josia Lamberto- Egan and Jeff Halmos; and Doo-Ri Chung.
Last year, Los Angeles–based Rodarte’s Laura and Kate Mulleavy and New York–based Thakoon Panichgul for Thakoon were the award’s runners-up.
This year’s sponsors include Gap Inc., Juicy Couture, the Kellwood Co., Nordstrom, Barneys New York, Coach, L’Oreacute;al Paris, Theory, Lord & Taylor, Liz Claiborne Inc. and Vogue. —A.A.N.
