L.A. Fashion Awards Nominees Announced

The ramp up to the L.A. Fashion Awards has begun. The third annual awards are set for Oct. 26 at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

Nominees and a few winners were announced at a July 25 party at The Standard hotel in West Hollywood, Calif., where a crowd of fashion-industry insiders gathered to celebrate Los Angeles’ fashion community.

Uuml;ner and co-founder Mary Hill announced several winners, including BCBG Max Azria, which will receive the Wells Fargo Century “Fashion Achievement” award; Bravo’s fashion reality show, “Project Runway,” which will receive the “Inspiration” award; and fashion Web site Daily Candy (www.dailycandy.com), which will receive the “Fashion Communication” award.

The nominees for the “Moss Adams Fashion Innovator” award include Jasmin Shokrian, Juan Carlos Obando, Rami Kashou and Paula Thomas of Thomas Wylde.

Companies vying for the “Marketing Excellence” award include BCBG Max Azria, Guess by Marciano, L.A. Eyeworks and Kitson.

Nominees for the “Fashion Retailer” award include American Rag, Fred Segal, Lisa Kline and The Way We Wore.

A new award, the “Supima Denim Designer of the Year” award, was recently added to the program. Nominees will be announced in August.
