Michael Vollbracht, the lead designer and creative director at Bill Blass, has resigned from the New York–based company after four years with the label. Vollbracht arrived at Bill Blass in March 2003 right after designer Lars Nilsson was dismissed. In a statement released May 25, the company confirmed Vollbracht’s resignation. Earlier this year, the Bill Blass Holding Co. was acquired by NexCen Brands Inc., which paid $54.6 million for the venerable label started by Bill Blass in 1970. Bill Blass died in 2002.
