Hurley Hosts Design Competition

Hurley is once again hosting its “Walk the Walk” design competition in which Orange County, Calif., high-school students are given the chance to produce their own fashion shows featuring Hurley designs.

The surfwear maker invited students from high schools in Laguna Beach, Los Alamitos and San Clemente—as well as last year’s winner, Dana Hills High School in Dana Point—to participate in the event, set for June 5 at Hurley’s headquarters in Costa Mesa, Calif.

The students will select a theme, style the outfits, select models, accessories and music and oversee hair, makeup and overall production for each five-minute show.

Judges include Hurley founder and Chief Executive Officer Bob Hurley; Hurley Senior Vice President of Global Branding Paul Gomez; team rider and musician Tim Curran; US Soccer player Cobi Jones; Hurley designers Jenna Wilson and Stever Rapp; and Hurley’s young contemporary muse, Rosie.

Hurley will name a winner at the event and will make a donation to the winning school’s art and music programs.—Alison A. Nieder
