Paige, Gonzalez and Nieder Honored by AIU

The American Intercontinental University will present its 2007 portfolio graduation fashion show on June 21 at the Avalon club in Hollywood. The event will feature sportswear, eveningwear, bridal and menswear collections created by graduating seniors. Awards, including “Most Creative,” “Most Marketable” and “Outstanding Collection,” will be presented to winning students. Designers Joy Han of Voom by Joy Han, Uriel Saenz, Lana Cretz of Found Denim, and Elisa de la Rosa Hebert of Savvy Frills will join Karen Mamont, the former California Market Center public-relations head, and Jeannine Braden, owner of Fred Segal Flair, on the judging panel.

AIU alums and fashion insiders will also be honored. Alison A. Nieder, California Apparel News’ executive editor, will accept the AIU 2007 “Style and Substance” award for her support and dedication to the Los Angeles fashion industry. AIU graduate and swim designer Ashley Paige will receive the “Outstanding AIU Fashion Design Alum” award. Blanca Gonzalez, a Nike entertainment marketing manager and product line manager, will receive the inaugural “Outstanding AIU Fashion Marketing Alum” award.

The AIU offers bachelor’s degrees in fashion design, design and marketing, and fashion marketing.
