David Coury and Brad Jaco are billing their new showroom as the first multi-line showroom in the Los Angeles Fashion District dedicated to eco fashions.

Coury and Jaco launched their new concept, The Namaste Greenhouse, in the Cooper Design Space after working with organic jeans company Loomstate and musician Bono’s line, Edun.

While Coury and Jaco are finalizing their eco-friendly lineup, they will carry several brands during Los Angeles Fashion Market, June 8–12, including Loomstate, Ciel, Perfectly Imperfect and Ajna.

All the labels are fully committed to sustainable fabrics. Loomstate is a denim and shirts line made from certified organic cotton. Ajna is made with sustainable bamboo and other organics using natural dyes, and Perfectly Imperfect is a tops line from the former designer of 3 Dots and features hand-dyed garments.

Ciel, from the United Kingdom, is a knitwear line made with organic Alpaca and Azo-free dyes. (Some Azo dyes and pigments, which are typically used for textiles and plastics, have recently been banned by some organizations, including the European Commission, which says the dyes give off toxic and potentially cancer-causing byproducts such as chlorinated aromatic amines.)

The Namasteacute; Greenhouse showroom is adjacent to the regular Namasteacute; showroom, which carries Trovata, Friend or Foe and Sass & Bide. The Greenhouse is managed by Mahana Coleman.

“Everyone we work with has the same mission. There was a lot of segmentation, so we wanted to be the location for sustainable clothing,” she said.

Coury said the showroom will also offer educational materials to help buyers educate their customers.

“We only want to supply retailers with the best. We want to raise the bar and are fully committed to the eco fashion movement,” said Coury.—Robert McAllister
