MySpace Testing Fashion News Blog

MySpace has launched a fashion news blog at http://news.myspace.com/style/fashion.

The new section contains general fashion news from around the world via news agencies and other fashion sites as well as MySpace members.

The section supplements a fashion blog already in operation at www.myspace.com. Users can respond to and post messages about the news subjects.

The section is still in its beta testing stage and may eventually be redesigned. MySpace is also beta testing an instant-messaging service called MySpaceIM. Like others, the system allows online users to chat with each other in real time.

MySpace, which is owned by the Rupert Murdoch–led News Corp., has been gradually building up its fashion content. According to published reports, Murdoch is considering trading MySpace for a 25 percent stake in Yahoo Inc.

Meanwhile, the global fashion community continues to use the Internet for collaboration. International sites such as Iqons (www.iqons.com) are gaining popularity among designers and stylists. —Robert McAllister
