Kymberly Lubell Leaves True Religion

Los Angeles–based denim giant True Religion Apparel Inc., which trades on the Nasdaq stock exchange, announced that Kymberly Gold Lubell, wife of founder Jeff Lubell and the company’s vice president and design director, has left the company. A statement issued by the company did not offer a reason for her departure. Executives could not be reached for comment.

According to the latest documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Kymberly Lubell owns 7.9 million shares, approximately 35 percent of the company. She is the largest single stockholder after Jeff Lubell, who owns 38 percent of the company. At press time, True Religion’s shares were trading at $16.62 a share.

Kymberly Lubell, who was also a member of True Religion’s board of directors, design directed the brand’s subsidiary, Guru Denim Inc. Prior to joining True Religion, Lubell worked for Jones Apparel Group’s LEI brand, Laundry by Liz Claiborne, Azteca Production’s Hippie Jeans and Bella Dahl, the denim label started by Jeff and Kymberly Lubell and later sold to Jolna Design Group.

Lubell isn’t the only executive at the jeans giant to leave this week. Charles Lesser, the company’s chief financial officer, has been replaced by former Nordstrom controller Peter Collins. —Erin Barajas
