L.A. Fashion Week Fall '07: Meghan

This season, Los Angeles designer Meghan Fabulous opted to do an informal modeling presentation to showcase her Fall collection versus a runway show. 944 magazine sponsored the show and hosted it on March 20 at its office and event space on Sunset Boulevard.

The designer, known for the whimsical sensibility of her global lifestyle brand, presented 30 looks from her Fall and Holiday collections.

Sacha Hason, president of the company, said they weren’t originally planning to do a show because they are focused on other areas of their business. However, they decided to utilize the opportunity to shoot their look book and present the collection in a more intimate environment.

Guests enjoyed drinks and hors d’oeuvres throughout the evening while getting an up-close view of the collection, which carried the theme “Fashion Is My Nature.”

Silhouettes included both mini 1960s shapes as well as long maxi silhouettes. The collection focused on getting back to Mother Nature by incorporating floral prints and utilizing natural stones to decorate garments. Jewels resembled precious stones such as the diamond cut of crystal beads that encrusted the collar of a black sheath dress. Leaves, flowers and butterfly appliqueacute;s decorated much of the collection, including a puffy coat-dress.

A whimsical frog-like trim was used for embellishment, and real bugs were encrusted in clear Lucite bracelets for an authentic “Meghan” touch. —N. Jayne Seward
