Oakley Adds Distribution Space in Inland Empire

Apparel and eyewear brand Oakley Inc. is expanding its warehouse space in the Inland Empire, having signed a lease for close to 300,000 square feet in the Crossroads Business Park in Ontario, Calif.

The park is being developed by ProLogis and includes tenants such as Skechers, Wal-Mart, Big Lots and Burlington Coat Factory. Oakley, based in Foothill Ranch, Calif., already has a presence in the area with about 100,000 square feet but needed more space. The new distribution facility is expected to be completed by the end of June.

“Given our current strategic initiatives and anticipated growth, we expect that this expansion, which is a combination of new space and a reconfiguration of existing space, will help us maximize our distribution operations,” said Chris Veit, director of operations for Oakley, in a statement.

The Inland Empire continues to serve as a primary logistics hub for leading companies with regional and national distribution requirements, said Pat Cavanagh, ProLogis’ senior vice president and regional director of capital deployment. The real estate is less expensive than neighboring Los Angeles and Orange counties and is near rail lines and Ontario International Airport.
