L.A. Fashion Week Spring '08: Tart

Tart’s Oct. 17 runway show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City, Calif., showed the brand’s breadth and strength in women’s dresses. Now under the design auspices of Rebecca Rich, the label featured more than 35 looks for Spring ’08.

The Concord, Calif.–based label highlighted many of its signature deep V-necks and other plunging necklines, often with empire-waist constructions. The brand also rolled out new graphic prints featuring parrots and starburst, wish-sticks designs. Most were found on long halter dresses as well as on shorter lengths with lace-up backs agrave; la Norma Kamali.

There were also plenty of staple items such as shirred and wrapped dresses in white and deep jewel tones, detailed with ties and pleats with a bit of Halston influence. Other standout looks included long genie pants coupled with colorful bandeau tops. —Robert McAllister
