Ex-Yahoo! Executive de Luca Joins MyShape
Former Yahoo! Internet executive Mercedes de Luca has joined the staff of Pasadena, Calif.–based MyShape (www.myshape.com) as its global customer experience officer and chief information officer (CIO).
MyShape is a new online shopping site that uses technology to match a consumer’s body characteristics with garments that provide the most appropriate fit and style choices.
De Luca was vice president of global information technology for Yahoo!, the world’s largest global online network of integrated services. She built Yahoo’s global information-technology organization, leading a team of more than 400 professionals to deliver global information-technology and business solutions to more than 22 countries and 80 locations worldwide.
“Mercedes has a solid track record of using technology to enhance people’s lives and to successfully build businesses,” said MyShape Chief Executive Officer Louise Wannier. “She shares our guiding philosophy that customer needs and desires should drive technology, rather than the other way around. She clearly has the passion and entrepreneurial spirit that are at the heart of the entire MyShape team. The fact that she would leave Yahoo! to come help us build our business says it all.”
De Luca said she learned about MyShape while teaching at Santa Clara University.
“MyShape is building intimacy with women who shop online in a way that no one else is doing. This is such an exciting opportunity for me, to be part of this next evolution in online fashion. Technology is simply the engine that puts great ideas into action. In this case, the idea is bringing about a radically improved shopping experience,” she said.
