Michael Stars Receives 'All-Star' Award
Hawthorne, Calif.–based Michael Stars was among a select group of apparel resources picking up All- Star awards during the Nov. 7 Apparel Magazine Technology Conference at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
Nominated by the California Fashion Association, Michael Stars was recognized for pioneering the fitted T-shirt trend, giving the California apparel industry a stronghold position in the tops market.
Founder Michael Cohen received the award at a ceremony in FIT’s Katie Murphy Auditorium.
“The Michael Stars family is honored to be recognized. While our brand has grown from California to around the world, we have remained a family business,” Cohen said.
Other recipients included Bernard Chaus, Maggy London, Marks & Spencer, Brooks Running, Russell Athletic, Fechheimer, Teamwork Athletic, Timex/ Fergasam and Oregon State University. —Robert McAllister
