Getting Into Shape

According to Australian designer Bruno Schiavi, the No. 1 characteristic women want in effective shapewear is comfort.

So Schiavi and Dr. Robert Rey, the plastic surgeon who is the star of the reality TV show Dr. 90210 on the E! network, developed a line of shapewear that incorporates comfort with body-enhancing elements. It’s called Dr. Rey’s Shapewear.

To prove the undergarments are as effective as advertised, The Bombshell Babies, a burlesque dance troupe, showed that women can move up, down and all around in Dr. Rey’s Shapewear by performing a saucy dance while wearing items from the debut collection.

The launch event was hosted by Carmen Electra and Denise Richards on Oct. 25 at the Opera nightclub in Hollywood.

Schiavi combines his experience from designing products such as the Delta by Anabella Xtreme Plunge Bra with Dr. Rey’s expertise as a plastic surgeon for the new shapewear line.

“The way [Dr. Rey] does a bottom lift or the way he’s done a tummy tuck, that’s how I basically restructured the shapewear garments,” Schiavi said. The firm control undergarments are enriched with aloe vera to moisturize the skin. “Some women are dropping between 3 to 5 inches from their waist and hips when they put our garments on,” Schiavi said.
