Surf's Executive Shuffle

A bevy of surf executives are taking new positions this month.

Costa Mesa, Calif.–based surf/skate brand RVCA announced the appointment of Dan Levine as the brand’s president. Levine, formerly Hurley International’s vice president of new business development and vice president of merchandising and design, is RVCA’s first president

For its part, Hurley, a division of Nike Inc., has appointed Roger Wyett its new chief executive offer and president. The move is a homecoming of sorts for Wyett, formerly Nike’s vice president of global apparel, who once served as Hurley’s president and chief executive. Founder Bob Hurley, who launched the brand in 1998 and sold it to Nike in 2002, will assume the role of chairman and continue to be involved in the brand’s day-to-day business.

“It is going to be so exciting to work with Roger again, both personally and professionally, because we naturally complement each other,” Hurley said in a statement. “With Roger as our CEO and president, he will be responsible for executing our brand vision, and I will be actively focusing efforts around the brand, product and Hurley community.”

O’Neill has hired two key executives. Marty Mathiesen, formerly the director of domestic sales at Reef, succeeds Charlie Setzler as vice president of men’s sales. In August, Setzler accepted the job of president of Rusty Clothing. Rhea Aslin, Lucky Brand Jeans’ former director of merchandising for the women’s apparel and accessories, has been named vice president of juniors merchandising at O’Neill. Both Aslin and Mathiesen will report to O’Neill chief Toby Bost. —Erin Barajas
