L.A. Fashion Week Spring '08: Jenny Han

Inspired by the Roaring 20s, Los Angeles–based contemporary designer Jenny Han sent flapper-inspired looks down the runway at her Oct. 16 show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City, Calif.

Models in finger-waved bobs and headscarves wore pinafore dresses, short tunics paired with even shorter shorts and copious mini-dresses perfect for a day at the boardwalk. In keeping with the beach theme, Han also showed slinky tops tossed over metallic bikinis.

Embellishments were kept to a minimum, save for a few tonal ruffles, pin-tucks and contrast piping. Instead, Han focused on colorful geometric prints and saturated satin in purple, kelly green, blue and gold.

Standout pieces included a cardigan dress in cream, a sage belted tunic with a deep cutout at the neckline and a boyfriend-style shirtdress. —Erin Barajas
