Sunrise Tech Sets Up Shop in L.A.

“Go West” is a message being sounded loudly in the technology community. After all, the West Coast fashion scene remains hot, and the manufacturing base is still significant. Those factors have lured a number of information-technology companies expanding into the region. The latest is Winston-Salem, N.C.–based Sunrise Technologies, which recently opened a new office in Los Angeles.

Sunrise is a key distributor of Microsoft Dynamics AX, an ERP (enterprise resource planning) package that manages financials, manufacturing, distribution and sales, among other areas.

American Apparel and luxury jewelry brand Chrome Hearts are among the company’s recent customers.

Sunrise was founded by John Pence in 1994. Since opening in the textile-rich Triad area of North Carolina, the company has since expanded into Dallas and now Los Angeles.

“We were getting clients without even an office here,” said Vice President Cem Item. “We see long-term growth potential in this region.”

Microsoft Dynamics is a flexible and adaptable package, which is ideal for the fast-changing SKU-intensive apparel industry, Item said. In addition, Sunrise offers a deep cache of services.

Microsoft Dynamics has a user interface similar to other Microsoft products such as Outlook and Office, which makes the learning curve a lot easier, Item said.

The company is a Microsoft gold partner, which gives it better access to Microsoft support and products. It’s also a member of Microsoft’s President’s Club, awarded to the top 5 percent of distributors in Dynamics Exchange AX. For more information, visit www.sunriseconsult.com. —Robert McAllister
