New Name
Belk, the largest privately owned department-store chain in the United States, has completed the name change on the 25 Parisian department stores it acquired last year from Saks Inc. Sixteen of the former Parisian stores have added a Belk Home Store. Two of the former Parisian stores have been designated as flagship stores. They are located at The Summit shopping center in Birmingham, Ala., and Phipps Plaza in Atlanta. Belk, founded in 1888 and now headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., has 300 stores in 16 Southern states.
