BPMW Launches Men's Footwear Show

Media agency BPMW, the organizer of Capsule, the new boutique menswear show in New York, is focusing its aesthetic on shoes. Compass, a men’s footwear show, will debut July 28–29 in Las Vegas at the Alexis Park Hotel with approximately 30 to 40 shoe brands. The WSA Show, organized by the World Shoe Association and billed as the largest shoe show in the world, will run July 28–30 in Las Vegas.

Edina Sultanik, co-owner of New York–based BPMW, said Compass hopes to attract some buyers from the larger show but also draw buyers who don’t traditionally shop WSA. “A lot of retailers who came to Capsule asked us to do a show in Las Vegas for shoes with the same sort of vibe—more lifestyle-oriented, more progressive styles. They can’t always find that sort of thing at WSA,” she said. So far, brands such as Creative Recreation, Doc Martens, Converse, Alife, Lacoste Stealth, Keep and PF Flyers have signed on to show their Spring/Summer 2009 collections at Compass. Sultanik said she expects buyer attendance to reach 1,000 individuals.
