Sourcing at MAGIC Moves to Four-Day Format

Earlier this year, MAGIC International announced plans to switch its apparel trade show, the MAGIC Marketplace, from a four-day to a three-day format beginning in August in Las Vegas.

Now the Woodland Hills, Calif.–based trade-show giant announced plans to run its sourcing and fabric section, Sourcing at MAGIC, over a four-day period, opening one day before its apparel shows, MAGIC, WWDMAGIC, MAGICkids and the Pooltradeshow, all set for Aug. 25–27. MAGIC’s Project Global Trade Show will run Aug. 26–28.

By opening on Aug. 24, Sourcing at MAGIC will give attendees an additional day to shop its exhibitors, including manufacturers, fabric mills, print design studios and service providers.

“After extensive research and a survey of both our exhibitors and buyers, we learned that our customers needed to attend Sourcing at MAGIC before the other shows started,” said Chris DeMoulin, president of MAGIC International and executive vice president of the fashion group of Advanstar, which oversees MAGIC.

When MAGIC announced the move to shorten MAGIC’s run, show organizers said the decision came at the request of exhibitors and attendees. MAGIC’s decision to extend the Sourcing show’s dates was made using similar rationale.

“Exhibitors, manufactures and buyers have all expressed that a four-day show would allow for more time, ease and effectiveness of their resources,” DeMoulin said.
