Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim/Cruise 2009: XTRA Life Lycra
The XTRA Life Lycra Fiber show, held July 21, closed Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim with a group show at the Raleigh hotel in Miami Beach, Fla., which included suits by local favorites Red Carter and ANK by Mirla Sabino, as well as swimwear by Shan, Christina, Gottex, Karla Coletto, Maryan Melhorn, Speedo, Quiksilver and Profile by Gottex. Designed to showcase the versatility of the XTRA Life Lycra fabric, the show acted as a roundup of the styles that will grace beaches, backyard pools, lap pools and sunny vacation destinations in 2009. From sporty racer-back suits from Speedo and surfer-dude boardshorts to chic maillots and playful bikinis from luxury brands, the show offered a comprehensive look at the swimwear landscape. Adding another level of entertainment, the show’s host, Carson Kressley, sent one of the makeover subjects from his cable reality show, “How to Look Good Naked,” down the runway in a Red Carter suit that brought the assembled crowd to its feet for a standing ovation.—E.B.
