D&A Lining Up Labels for New Green Show

Designers and Agents, the bicoastal boutique contemporary trade show, has been lining up green-focused designer labels for its new show, D&A Green Market, a sustainable trade event featuring fashion, lifestyle and design offerings.

Like the D&A shows held in Los Angeles and New York, Green Market will be juried. It will make its debut Oct. 17–19 in Los Angeles alongside D&A’s Spring show.

Anchored by brands such as Edun, Stewart + Brown, Loomstate and Namaste Green House, Green Market will also host Ashley Watson, Bahar Shapar, Cri de Coeur, Deux Fleur De Lys, FreiDesign, KRELwear and Lara Miller, among others.

Brands participating in Green Market must demonstrate that a minimum of 60 percent of their offerings are produced sustainably.

The “green” theme isn’t new for D&A. In May 2007, D&A partnered with Good magazine to launch Designers and Agents Goes Green, a section focused on eco-friendly products. The Green Room, an eco-capsule area within the larger show, has supported young, eco-conscious brands with gifted space.

“We believe that ’green’ is not a trend but rather a way of life,” said Designers and Agents co-founder Barbara Kramer in a statement. “And our green programming has already moved a lot of our vendors and retailers to get on board. This is our way of challenging everyone we work with to do better because they can. In order to shrink fashion’s carbon footprint, you’ve got to give green design a bigger business presence.”

In the future, Green Market will continue to run concurrently with the D&A Spring and Fall markets in Los Angeles and New York.
